English Subs – Sparta

Sparta tells the story about Ewald, he moved to Romania years ago. Now that he’s in his 40s, he wants to start with a clean slate. He leaves his girlfriend and moves inland.

Together with some boys from the neighborhood, he transforms a dilapidated school building so that the local children can enjoy this new place. However, the other villagers are suspicious and confront Ewald with the bitter truth.

Director Ulrich Seidl previously made the film Rimini, in which we followed Ewald’s brother. Seidl originally wanted to present these two films as one film and he has now also processed the material into a large epic. In Böse Spiele Rimini Sparta, the two storylines are closely intertwined.
