Rewards For The Tribe is a playful feature documentary that explores the meeting of minds and bodies of two major dance companies – genre defying contemporary dance company Chunky Move and famed Adelaide based company Restless Dance Theatre, whose troupe is comprised of dancers with disabilities.
Led by choreographer Antony Hamilton, the film follows the development of a major new work by the five collaborating dancers that tests the boundaries of group harmony and myths of physical perfection. This is a journey in which Jianna, Michael, Charlie, Ben, Cody and Darcy find a shared personal and creative language to create a work that will take them from their homes in Adelaide and Melbourne to the international stage in the UK.
Shifting from documentary and intimate reflections by the artists, to unsettling and dreamlike sequences of dance and intellectual provocations, the film is intimate, cheeky, thoughtful and expansive, guiding us to understanding the rewards of rethinking perfection and harmony
