Reedland is an impressive drama in which nature seems to dominate the lives of its characters. The film was written and directed by Sven Bresser, who makes a highly promising debut feature.
When reed cutter Johan (Gerrit Knobbe) discovers the lifeless body of a young girl on his land, he is struck by an undefined sense of guilt. While caring for his granddaughter (Loïs Reinders), he searches for answers and attempts to track down the source of the evil. The film was selected for the Cannes Film Festival as part of the prestigious Semaine de la Critique program—marking the first Dutch film to be included in 27 years.
Reedland has been praised by the international press and will celebrate its Dutch premiere as the closing film of the Netherlands Film Festival. In addition, it is this year’s official Dutch submission to the Oscars for Best International Feature Film and is also part of the Gouden Kalf Competitie selection.
