About Horizonte

Horizonte is the second feature film by César Augusto Acevedo (La Tierra y la Sombra). A magical-realist, psychological, and philosophical drama in which the camerawork of the Latin American landscape has turned it into a third protagonist.

Basilio returns to his home and his mother Inés. He has been missing for a long time and, like his mother, has since passed away. The two spirits find no peace. They embark on a spiritual quest for Basilio’s missing father, hoping for redemption from all the wrong decisions they have made during their lives. Together, they travel through their war-torn country, while trying in vain to make contact with the people who are still alive along the way. Slowly but surely, they discover that they must make great sacrifices to escape this situation.
