About Silent Friend

In this latest masterpiece by Ildikó Enyedi (On Body and Soul), three stories unfold over a century centered around a single lonely old tree. Starring Tony Leung Chiu-wai (In the Mood for Love) and Léa Seydoux (La vie d’Adèle).

The film moves through decades and showcases the beauty of our living world by focusing on different stories. In 1908, the first female student at the university discovers her passion for photography, with the old tree as her muse. 64 years later, a geranium is the center of attention for a student in love, and during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, a stranded neuroscientist shifts his focus to the connection between humans and nature.
