À pied d’oeuvre is a French drama film based on the autobiography and bestselling novel of the same name by Franck Courtes. It stars Bastien Bouillon (Partir un jour, Le comte de Monte-Cristo) as Paul Marquet, who delivers a powerful and moving performance as a photographer who uncompromisingly chooses writing as his profession and, in doing so, an existence on the margins of society.

Paul gives up his successful career as a photographer to devote himself to his true passion: writing. However, sales of his books are disappointing, causing him to run out of resources and doubt to set in. To make ends meet, he takes odd jobs as a handyman, which is initially quite sobering but ultimately brings him writing inspiration. À pied d’oeuvre is an intimate portrait of the price of artistic freedom and the vulnerability of a Parisian artist.
