Calle Málaga is the moving new film by Maryam Touzani (The Blue Caftan) about nostalgia, security, and rediscovering oneself in later life. A loving portrait of a woman who refuses to be defeated. The film won the Audience Award at the Venice Film Festival. Actress Carmen Maura (Volver) became known as the muse of Pedro Almodóvar and appeared in many of his early films.
74-year-old Maria, played by Carmen Maura, enjoys a quiet life within the close-knit Spanish community of Tangier, a colorful Moroccan coastal town. Her world crumbles when her daughter Clara arrives from Madrid to sell the apartment where Maria lives. Maria decides not to be driven away and fights to keep her home and her memories. During that struggle, she also rediscovers love, much to her own surprise.
