About Hen

With great power comes great responsibility. But what if the powerful heroine is a chicken? Director György Pálfi opens your mind by showing you the world through the eyes of a chicken.

After escaping from a farm, a chicken finds shelter in the courtyard of a restaurant. There, she discovers love, defies the pecking order and fights to protect her eggs from an avaricious cook. Her funny yet moving journey towards motherhood mirrors the challenging compromises and quiet troubles of the human condition.

Hen was selected for the Toronto Film Festival, where it received an honourable mention. Pálfi was inspired by classic Greek tragedies, where the fate of the individual reveals universal questions. The film is both an absurd and harrowing fable that will make you sympathise with the unexpected protagonist.
