About Eagles of the republic
Eagles of the Republic is the new political thriller by Tarik Saleh (Cairo Conspiracy) in which a celebrated actor becomes entangled in the power games of the elite. The film was selected for the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival and was Sweden’s Oscar entry.
Egypt’s most popular actor, George Fahmy, played by Fares Fares, enjoys his fame. When he refuses the lead role in a propaganda film in which he is supposed to play the president, he risks losing everything. Reluctantly, he accepts the role and finds himself caught in a web of corruption and espionage. The mysterious wife of a general brings him even closer to the edge of the abyss.
