Collection of short films surrounding life in the mountains
The Freeride Film Festival enters a new round in 2026 and presents six films that tell of the extremes of life in the mountains. From existential moments under snow and wind to quiet stories about friendship, origin, and what remains in the end. The 2026 films tell above all of one thing: the moment when you stop trying to control nature and start moving with it.
What connects the six films is this letting go of control – whether inside an avalanche, aboard a sailboat in the wind, or in a fjord village racing against time. And almost always, this surrender is not a solitary act, but carried by friendship, partnership, or community. In doing so, the FFF once again spans the range between visually poetic arthouse productions, documentary authenticity, and classic big-mountain action – always with the ambition of opening up new perspectives on life in the mountains.
All six films are spoken or subtitled English.
Yin
Swiss professional snowboarder Daria Fuchs searches for her connection to the frozen world – from snow-capped peaks down to sea level, where she pursues surfing and the elements in Japan. Directed by Morgan Maassen.
Inside Circles
Director Dominic Knoppe travels through Iceland and Norway with his friends Max Pflanzl and Tim Boehringer – on snowboard, splitboard and sailboat, always driven by the wind.
Uncle Timmy
In a vision of the future, professional snowboarder Timm Schröder – “Uncle Timmy” – tells the children of his best friend Dino Flatz about his life between a world championship title, hard slams and real losses. The line between truth and exaggeration blurs.
Kodo
A group of Japanese skiers and filmmakers based in Canada combine traditional taiko drumming and the philosophy of “wabi-sabi” with the majestic wilderness of Canada.
75 Seconds
On a foggy evening in March in Norway, freeskier Jacob Wester triggers an avalanche. For 75 seconds he fights for his life in the roaring chaos of snow, while his wife Sofia waits below in silence. A raw film about chaos, fear and hope.
Ferryland
In the Norwegian fjord village of Trandal, home to just 17 residents and some of the country’s best freeride spots, a group of friends returns to race against time to save their season.
