Love in the Age of A.I.
Spike Jonze’s Her (2013) is a tender, unsettling story about love in a near future where human connection is increasingly mediated by technology. The film follows a man who develops an intimate relationship with an AI operating system, raising questions about loneliness, desire, and what it means for a relationship to feel “real.”
The film will be introduced by Dr. László Munteán, assistant professor of Cultural Studies and American Studies at Radboud University, who will reflect on how artificial intelligence reshapes intimacy and emotional life. In a time marked by growing disconnection, what will love become when mediated by algorithms and artificial voices? Can technology truly bridge the distance between us? What is lost when connection is outsourced to systems designed to respond to our feelings?
